Answers to Common Questions About Sedation Dentistry
Whether you’re preparing for your appointment or exploring sedation options, these frequently asked questions will help you feel confident, informed, and ready for your visit. If you don’t see your question here, our team is always happy to help.
Questions Commonly Asked by Patients
1. How do you put me to sleep?
Our anesthesia team begins with a gentle inhaled gas to help you fall asleep before placing an IV. This approach eliminates the anxiety many patients feel about needles and allows for a smoother, more comfortable induction of anesthesia.
2. Will I feel nauseated or vomit after the procedure?
Nausea and vomiting are uncommon. We use a combination of three anti-nausea medications during anesthesia and apply local anesthesia at the treatment site to minimize discomfort. This reduces the need for IV narcotics, further decreasing post-operative nausea.
3. Will you be in the room the entire time?
Yes. A MASC anesthesia provider remains at the patient’s side from induction through recovery—monitoring vital signs, ensuring safety, and managing comfort throughout the entire procedure.
